After School Activities
The after school activities for children and youth are one of the main activities of Thread Foundation. After closed from school every workday between 10 and 20 children are coming to participate in the different activities. Right now our volunteer Peter is responsible for most of the activites and he is supported by other volunteers - most of them have also been part of the Thread Foundation activities before and now teaching the younger ones.
Education
Reading, dictation and mathematics are just some examples of the different activities in the field of education. The basic idea is to intensify the school education by repeating important aspects of different subjects.
Storytelling
Stories are a good way to express creativity in a free way, to improve english language skills and to get new ideas on perspectives.
The children are taught how to find ideas and write stories, using different techniques of creative writing exercises.
Cultural Dance & Drumming
Every Wednesday the children are practising traditional cultural dance and drumming. The cultural troupe already had a couple of performances, e.g. in Mountain High School on the 10th August 2016.
Recycling
Plastic waste is a big challenge in Ghana. In order to teach about recycling we started a project to use different kinds of plastic packages to create something new, e.g. sewing them together to create a kind of fabric.
